Senior Financial Controller – International Focus
Back to overviewKatoen Natie, a leading global player in logistics and supply chain management, is seeking a motivated Senior Financial Controller with a passion for both policy development and hands-on execution for its General Cargo & Commodities business unit. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for internal reporting, ensuring financial stability, compliance, and internal control in emerging markets, with a specific focus on Commodity countries such as Ghana, Vietnam, and Ivory Coast. This challenging position also involves regular travel to the respective countries, ideally twice a year.
As Senior Financial Controller, you will be the driving force behind Katoen Natie’s financial success in the assigned regions. You play a crucial role in the financial monitoring process, while you will also perform daily financial tasks; collaborating closely with local teams and reporting to the Business Unit Controller. Your key responsibilities include:
Tasks:
- Develop and implement financial policies and follow-up with a focus on compliance, balance control, consolidation, and translation to IFRS;
- Provide regular, accurate financial reporting to the management team and headquarters;
- Exercise control over daily accounting activities and act as a bridge between accounting and controlling;
- Carefully monitor financial processes and ensure they comply with local and international standards;
- Coordinate internal control procedures and proactively identify opportunities for process optimization;
- Lead financial analyses and provide insights to senior management;
- Consolidate financial data from the assigned regions and translate them into IFRS standards;
- Collaborate with local teams to streamline financial processes and promote efficiency;
- Regularly travel to Ghana, Vietnam, and Ivory Coast, approximately 2 times per year, to assess on-site financial activities and support local teams;
- Support and follow up on local projects.
- Minimum of a completed master's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field;
- Demonstrable experience (minimum 5 years) in financial control, accounting, and internal control, preferably with international exposure in the logistics sector;
- Basic knowledge of IFRS and interest in local accounting standards;
- Hands-on experience with accounting processes and systems;
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically;
- Excellent communication skills and motivation to work effectively in a multicultural environment;
- Willingness to travel approximately 2 times per year to the mentioned countries;
- Fluent in English; knowledge of French is a plus.
